Muath al-Khawaldeh is secretary-general of Jordan’s Al-Ummah Party, formerly the Islamic Action Front, which has historically been the Muslim Brotherhood key political entity and described as its political arm. His Arabic name, معاذ الخوالدة, may also be transliterated as Muadh al-Khawalidah or Moaz al-Khawalda. These are possible spelling variations, not established aliases.
Al-Khawaldeh was elected secretary-general on 19 September 2026 during the party’s seventh general conference. His organizational background spans public communications, internal leadership and Palestine-related responsibilities. He became the Brotherhood’s spokesman in Jordan in 2015 and subsequently served on its Shura Council and Executive Office, holding responsibility for its media, political and Palestine portfolios. In 2022, he was elected to the Islamic Action Front’s Shura Council.
As secretary-general, al-Khawaldeh now holds Al-Ummah’s senior executive position. Following his election, he advocated cooperation with other Jordanian political forces while reaffirming support for Palestinian resistance. His advancement demonstrates continuity of senior personnel between the Brotherhood and its historically associated party.
Al-Khawaldeh has publicly acknowledged communication with Hamas. In April 2024, he told CNN Arabic that contacts with Hamas leaders abroad were “not secret.” He defended Hamas figures’ appeals for Jordanian mobilization as requests for solidarity rather than attempts to destabilize the country, while maintaining that Jordan’s security and stability were overriding priorities.
In October 2024, following an armed infiltration from Jordan near the Dead Sea, he praised the attackers and described their operation as a “jihadist epic.” He portrayed Jordanians as participants in the Al-Aqsa Flood battle and linked the operation to the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. These statements establish his public endorsement of that armed action; they do not independently establish operational or financial involvement.
Terrorist Report has received confidential accounts from sources we regard as trusted confirming that al-Khawaldeh’s activities extended beyond political representation into fundraising and financial intermediation. According to those accounts, he collected cash from Iraqi and Gulf businessmen in Amman. The funds reportedly passed through personal accounts belonging to him and other Brotherhood members before being transferred to the Islamic Charity Center as individual charitable contributions. The Islamic Charity Center is the Muslim Brotherhood’s charity that is tasked with collecting donations, financing, employing and money laundering the terror group’s money.
The confidential accounts further reports that al-Khawaldeh helped obtain donations intended for Hamas before 7 October 2023. Based on this information, we believe he performed a significant fundraising and intermediary role within the Brotherhood’s network, including activity intended to provide financial support to Hamas.
