Jordanian lawmaker blocks PM’s seat in Parliament – Protests Increasing Prices

Members of Parliament (MP) in any nation do a lot of interesting things to grab headlines. In Jordan, a MP refused to leave the Prime Minister’s actual seat in Parliament on Wednesday, August 3. In what is considered to be ‘unprecedented’ and a headline grabber, MP Imad Al-Adwan blocked Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh from sitting at his official position during the parliamentary session in an effort to protest the government’s pricing policies on essential goods. Jordan is seeing both a shortage of goods and a dramatic increase in the prices of consumer goods. This, on top of wasteful government spending and massive unemployment, are crippling the economy and can only be considered a direct threat to the King’s reign.
