1.JAFAJ sources in the Persian Gulf confirm that Emir of Kuwait, Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, is currently going through a health crisis. The 85-year-old ruler suffers from multiple health problems usually associated with advanced age. Nonetheless, according to the sources, he has recently been experiencing major heart-related problems.
2.The sources confirmed that the Emir is being cared for by a team of Western and Palestinian doctors, with a fully equipped small-scale hospital inside his palace containing all the equipment available in any advanced intensive care unit operating at top Western standards.
3.Sources reported that the Emir has been mostly bedbound for much of the past three weeks and has spoken very little to his aides. Although he is still alive, according to the sources, he is not expected to become any healthier in the foreseeable future.
4.Comment: Despite the fact that Kuwait is going through critical times, with the war and recent Iranian targeting of multiple Kuwaiti and American interests in the country, the ruling family in Kuwait does not grant absolute exclusivity of power to the Emir. Instead, the family collectively rules, while the Emir serves as its representative with extensive powers. There are established mechanisms in place should the Emir pass away. Therefore, the potential death of the current Kuwaiti Emir is not likely to cause significant disruption or pose major risks to Kuwait’s political stability.
